Developing Critical Thinking Skills

Updated: Mar 6, 2019

Parents and teachers were brought up in a different era than their children and students. In their times, children who showed evidence of critical thinking skills would easily be associated with bad behavior or being " Spoiled ". Nowadays, this is an important skill to develop in young learners, and it is parents and teachers call.

In the past, a child who tried to offer better alternatives or made any attempt to correct their parents or teachers when they were mistaken would surely be punished. Critical thinking was wiped out from the infants’ minds, infants who have now become parents and teachers, the ones that are in charge of developing creative minds, problem solvers and critical thinkers.

Does it ring a bell to you? If it does, you will completely agree that it is difficult for parents and teachers to encourage critical thinking skills in children if they were not motivated to think critically when they were young.
